Renovation of the King Street Net Mender Water Feature

Map of affected area

The Department of Facility Maintenance will be performing renovation and repair of the Net Mender Water Feature from Wednesday, March 27, 2019, until Friday, June 14, 2019, barring inclement weather or other unforeseen events. The contractor’s working hour is from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The project is located at the triangle-shaped island bounded by King Street, Kapiʻolani Boulevard, and South Street.

Pedestrians are advised to avoid the area if possible and use alternate routes while crews are working. Please allow for extra travel time and abide by posted signs.  The sidewalk along the ʻEwa side of South Street will be closed until the repair work is completed and tested. The sidewalk along King Street will be limited to the crossing of King Street and South Street. The bus stop next to the Net Mender Water Feature will be closed and temporarily relocated near the intersection of King Street and Cooke Street until the repair project is completed and tested satisfactory.

The Mayor’s Office of Culture and the Arts will also perform needed coating preservation of the net and Net Mender Statue inside the pond while the water feature sump is dry. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience.

Please contact the Department of Facility Maintenance at 768-3343 with any questions, concerns, or for more information about the Net Mender Water Feature renovation project.
