presents the 30th Annual
The ʻŌlelo tradition continues with the 30th Annual Talk Story Festival


Free event scheduled for this Friday at Mission Memorial Auditorium. Doors open at 5 p.m.


Honolulu -- Now celebrating three decades of perpetuating the Hawaiian tradition of passing knowledge through spoken word, the Department of Parks and Recreation is proud to host Hawai‘i's oldest storytelling event on the grounds of the Honolulu Civic Center.


The entertaining and educational 30th Annual Talk Story Festival is this Friday, October 19, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the Mission Memorial Auditorium.


This year's theme is "I ka ‘Ōlelo no ke Ola" or "Life is in Speech." Please enjoy our six storytellers as they share tales in the way of the kanaka maoli, with the following schedule:


5:30 to 5:35 -- Intro


5:35 to 6:00 - Kamaka Pili


6:05 to 6:30 - Paige Okamura


6:35 to 7:00 - Manakō Tanaka


7:05 to 7:30 - Kumu Tammy Haili‘ōpua Baker


7:35 to 8:00 - Baker ʻOhana (4 people)


8:05 to 8:25 - Lee Tonouchi


8:25 to 8:30 -- Outro
